Maine Maritime men's basketball fell to Husson University 75-86 in overtime.
How it Happened: The Mariners started off strong, going on the 10-0 run to open up the game. The Eagles slowly started cutting into the Mariners lead throughout the half, but the held on, taking a three point lead into halftime.
Husson tied it up at 41 three minutes into the second half, and built up an 11 point lead with 15 minutes left in regulation. The Mariners eventually caught up to the Eagles with three minutes to go and it was a back-and-forth game from there. The Eagles took a two point lead with 22 seconds left in the game, before Carter Rubin (Littleton, Colo.) hit an 'and one' to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Husson dominated overtime, outscoring the Mariners 18 -7 to claim a 75-86 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Connor Tuerff (Hendersonville, Tenn.) tallied 20 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
- Rubin added 17 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
- Curt Heinz (Stuttgart, Germany) chipped in 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Malachi Reincke (Houston, Texas) recorded 11 points and seven rebounds.
- Justice Kendall had a game-high 26 points, while Scott Lewis added 21 points for the Eagles.
- Maine Maritime shot 40.6% from the hardwood and 28% from the three point line, while Husson University shot 38.4% from the floor and 52.4% from three point land.
