The Owls put the Hornets away with a big second half to take a 20-point North Atlantic Conference win. Owls beat Northern Vermont University – Lyndon 94-74 to bring them to 7-6 in the NAC and 11-13 on the year.
The Owls found themselves down early in the game while they struggled scoring, shooting only 37% from the field and only getting to the free throw line once. The Hornets were able to get to the line multiple times while also shooting 47% from the field. This would put the Owls down 45-36 at halftime. It was a different game in the second half as UMPI held NVU- Lyndon to just 29 points on under 24% shooting from the field. All while UMPI scored 58 points on an impressive 58.8% shooting and 2-4 from three, and 16-19 from the free throw line.
This big second half, and 20-point win was led by Griffin Guerrette and Dany Harris, as they both scored 24 points. Harris shot an impressive 10-15 from the field while grabbing six rebounds and shooting 1-2 from the three. Guerrette finished the game with a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line, while shooting 7-16 from the field. Gilbert Jean Mendez had a solid game, scoring 14 points to go with his six assists, shooting 7-15 from the field. Kj Minter finished with eight points and 11 rebounds on the night. Akhe McMichael came off the bench with ten points.
