Maine Maritime Academy Plissey Surpasses 1,000 Career Points as Mariners Defeat Cadets

Maine Maritime women's basketball beat Norwich University 92-55 in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon. Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) tallied a season-high 18 points for the Mariners, becoming the tenth Maine Maritime women's basketball player to surpass 1,000 career points.

 

How it Happened: After a couple minutes of back-and-forth action, Maine Maritime dominated the first quarter, scoring 19 straight points to end the first with a score of 32-8. The second quarter was more of the same action, with the Mariners a taking a 48-17 lead going into the half.

 

The second half was more competitive, but the Mariners build enough of a cushion in the first half to walk away with a 92-55 victory.

 

Inside the Numbers:

  • Erianna Moore (Fitchburg, Mass.) tallied a team-high 21 points, seven assists, four rebounds, two steals, and one block.
  • Plissey recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal.
  • Maria Barela (Albuquerque, N.M.) chipped in 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
  • Haley Brewster tallied a game-high 29 points for Norwich.
  • Maine Maritime shot 46.9% from the hardwood and 45.5% from the three point line, while Norwich shot 25.8% from the floor and 26.1% from three point land.

  • Plissey surpasses 1,000 career points.
  • Maine Maritime set a new season record for three point field goals made with 198 on the year so far.
