The University of Maine at Presque Isle continued their season with a North Athletic Conference match-up vs the Terriers of Thomas College. In the second day of action the Owls completed the weekend sweep winning a close match 71-70, off a last second tip in by Gilbert Jean Mendez.
The Owls would get on the board first, but the Terriers quickly found their rhythm and were able to capitalize off of turnovers to start their run to bring the score to 9-19. Continuing with their rhythm they would get out to a fourteen point lead before the Owls would start making a comeback. High scorers of the game Griffin Guerrette, Dany Harris, and Akhe McMichael would each hit multiple baskets bringing the score to 30-30. The Terries quickly found another gear though before the half as they grabbed a quick 7 points before the first half would be over.
The Owls and Terries would have a strong back and forth battle in the second half of action, but the Terriers would hold the lead until the game would be tied with 2:30 minutes left to play. Capitalizing off of UMPI fouls the Terriers would grab a quick four points in less than a minute of play. Guerrette would then find himself on the foul line where he would sink two to cut the Terrier lead. Once again Harris would finish a layup to grab an and-one where he would finish the play making the free throw putting the Owls up by 1. The Terriers then would make a layup with seconds remaining forcing the Owls into a timeout trailing by 1. Coming out of the time out a huge offensive rebound tip in from Gilbert Jean-Mendez with just five seconds remaining would be enough to finish with a 71-70 victory, completing the weekend sweep.
