The Owls men's basketball team falls to the Beavers of UMF in a tough North Atlantic Conference battle. The game consisted of 17 lead changes and eight ties, as it came down to the final minute, and the Beavers came out on top with a 75-72 win. This bring the Owls to 3-5 in the NAC and the Beavers to 5-0.
The teams battled back and forth throughout the game, starting with the first half where the Beavers went into the half with a three point lead going into the half. The Beavers shot 31% from the field and only 18% from the three as the Owls defense was solid. Although UMF also played great defense holding the Owls to just 38% and 20% from the three. The teams were tied late in the second half, with just 2:41 left in the game, until a two by the Beavers would put them up by two. Griffin Guerrette would answer right away with a three to bring the Owls up one. Later as the Owls were tied with 1:12 left in the game it was Kyle Donlin who scored the game winning three with just 54 seconds to go.
Guerrette finished the game with 21 points on 8-17 shooting and hitting three 3's on the night. Kj Minter finished the game with an 11 point, 16 rebound double-double while Dany Harris finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Owls will look to bounce back as they continue their doubleheader vs the Beavers.
