The Owls women's basketball team battled against the Husson University Eagles in their first North Atlantic Conference matchup of the year. The Owls would fall in the hard fought battle, 70-64 despite leading through three quarters. The Owls now site 3-3 on the year and 0-1 in the conference while the Eagles advance to 4-3 and 1-0 in the NAC.
The Owls found themselves down early despite holding former NAC player of the year, Bailey Donovan to just two points. Down just four points, the Owls bounced back in the second quarter with a 20-13 in the ten minute span to take the lead going into the half. The Owls finished the second quarter off 50% shooting from deep and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, while holding the Eagles to just 31% shooting. Going into the second half up 29-26, the Owls and Eagles battled to bring the game within two going into the fourth. The Owls struggled in the fourth, finishing the final ten minutes with seven turnovers. Despite shooting a better field goal percentage in the fourth, the Eagles were able to force turnovers and made 12 free throws to put the game away at the end.
Emily Wheaton led the Owls with 25 points on 50% shooting and hitting 4-6 from the three and 7-8 from the free throw line. Aleia Milano added 16 points and Alexis Ireland finished the game with ten points and nine rebounds.
The Owls next matchup will be against Fisher College in a single non-conference game in Massachusetts.
