University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Earns Second Win in a Row - Statement Win Over Falcons

The UMPI Owls sweep the weekend in their UMF Tipoff Tournament showing. Beating Fisher College in their second day of the tournament, in statement fashion. Today's 66-39 win over the Falcons brings the Owls to 2-2 on the year as the Falcons drop to 1-4.

The Owls started the game off with defensive energy, holding the Falcons to just seven points in the first half. In the next ten minutes the Owls heated up from deep hitting 43% from three to give them a 31-20 lead going into the half. It was in the third quarter where the Owls ran away with it, forcing the Falcons to turn the ball over seven times and only make two field goals. Defense led to offense, as the Owls shot 57% from three in the third, highlighting their 24-point quarter. The Owls didn't look back, earning their second win on the year.

Emily Wheaton led the way again for UMPI, scoring a game high 28 points on 10-23 shooting and 5-12 from three. The sharp shooter also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Aleia Milano was the Owls next highest scorer with 15 points on 60% shooting, hitting 3-7 threes and dishing out an impressive seven assists. Also adding four rebounds to her stat line, all while finishing the game with zero turnovers. The Owls defense was the difference maker, holding the Falcons to just 24% from the field and 12.5% from three and forcing 22 turnovers.
