Maine Maritime's Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, while Ila Smith (Lexington, Ky.) was named the Rookie of the Week.
Melampy tallied 25 kills, on .456 hitting, 17 digs, five service aces, two assists, and one block assist to lead the Mariners to a 2-0 week. Against the University of New England on Friday night, the hitter recorded a game-high 15 kills, hitting .500, along with four digs, three aces, and one block assist. She followed up on Saturday against Husson University with game-highs of 10 kills and 13 digs, in addition to two assists and two service aces.
Smith played in all six sets for the Mariners this week, tallying 13 kills, hitting .519, and three block assists. On Friday night against the University of New England, Smith had six kills, on .455 hitting, and two block assists. She followed up on Saturday hitting .583 for seven kills and recording one block assist.
