The UMPI Owls men's Soccer team advances to 3-4 in the NAC after a North Atlantic Conference win vs cross divisional opponent NVU-Johnson. The Owls beat the Badgers of NVU-Johnson 3-1 to finish off their cross divisional road trip. The Badgers now are 1-5-1 in the NAC.
The Owls found themselves down early after a goal by the Badgers in the 22nd minute of the game. The Owls wouldn't be down long as they answered less than ten minutes later. Scoring the equalizer was Diego Vega with an assist from first year Matthew Bayonne. After coming back out in the second half, Vega would continue his momentum, leading the Owls with another goal to take the lead. Vega's goal was in the 51st minute of the game, assisted by Nathaniel Stone. With the lead, the Owls continued to pressure the Badgers, resulting in a goal just 12 minutes later. Joshua Valadez scored for the Owls, assisted by Eduardo Figueroa.
Vega's two goals came off five shots, four of which were on goal, leading the Owls 12 shots on the day. Brady Holmes added two of the ten shots on goal off the bench. Xavier McAtee was in goal for the Owls, earning the win with three saves.
The Owls will host NAC opponent Thomas College for their next match up, Saturday Oct. 15th at Park Family Field.
