University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Fall to Eagles in First NAC Game of the Year

The UMPI Owls women's volleyball team continues their season facing off with the Eagles or Husson University in their first North Atlantic Conference match-up of the year. The Owls would fight hard, but fell to the eagles 0-3.

Owls vs Eagles – 11-25, 14-25, 14-25

With the game starting out in back and forth action between the Owls and Eagles, the Eagles would start to take a lead as they went on a five point run to put the Owls down 3-9. The Owls then took advantage of a couple kills and errors by Husson, but the Eagles would capitalize off a six and four point run later in the set in order to take the first set.

The second set would start out familiar to the first in back and forth action. Towards the middle of the set the Eagles would take advantage of errors until the Owls would then take advantage of the Eagles errors. With the set at 11-20 the Owls would continue to battle back and forth, but would not be able to steal the set as the Eagles claimed set two at 14-25.

The third set started out with runs from both teams until Husson started to take a larger lead with a four point run bringing the set to 10-14. The Eagles would capitalize off of errors in order to run away with the final set.

Makayla Miskiewicz and Rachael Walker led the Owls with four kills each. Miskiewicz also added ten digs while teammate Kaylee Blazick had eleven digs on the day for the Owls.

The Owls will continue their season Saturday, October 1st facing off with Corsair of University of Mass-Dartmouth and the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, ME.
