The UMPI Owls Men's Soccer team loses to non-conference opponent Nichols College Bison, 8-3. The Owls move to 1-2-2 on the year after this loss, the Bison sit 5-1-1 on the year.
Matthew Bayonne, in the first 28 seconds of the game scored for the Owls, his unassisted goal gave the Owls an early lead. For the majority of the remaining time in the first half the Bison took control of the game, scoring five goals with the first being late in the tenth minute and the last being in the 43rd. With the Bison with all the momentum going into the half, Diego Vega scored in the 43rd minute just before halftime. His third goal of the year was assisted by Eduardo Figueroa to give the Owls their second goal of the game. An early goal by the Bison in the second half gave them back the momentum, late scoring two more goals. Brandon Rodriguez scored his first career goal, assisted by Vega, to give the Owls their third goal in the 82nd minute.
Vega led the Owls in the offensive end with two shots on goal, and his goal and assist on the game. Xavier McAtee started in goal for UMPI, playing the first half while Kobe West finished the game.
The Owls will head back to Presque Isle to host their homecoming weekend, vs NAC opponents SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi.
