The Owls women's soccer team tie their third game of the year vs New England College Pilgrims, 1-1. The Owls now sit 1-2-3 on the year while the Pilgrims are 0-5-2.
The Pilgrims had the slight edge throughout the first half, out shooting the Owls 14-6 in the half, although the game stayed scoreless. In the second half the Owls slight edge paid off with a goal in the 58th minute to give them a one goal lead. UMPI's nine shots to the Pilgrims five in the second half, the third shot being the goal by Alexis Ireland, her fourth on the year. Some more back and forth, later resulted in a corner by the Pilgrims, leading to the game tying goal in the 73rd minute.
Ireland led the Owls again this weekend on the offensive end with five shots on goal, seven shots total. Zhoreen Malik put pressure on the Pilgrims with three shots on goal in just 32 minutes. Savannah Rodriguez was in goal for the Owls finishing the game with seven saves.
The Owls will head back to Presque Isle to host their homecoming weekend, vs NAC opponents SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi.
