The Owls season opener vs Simmons College finished in a tie, despite the Owls taking the lead early in the second half, a late game goal by the Sharks tied the game.
It was even play throughout the first half as the Owls finished with six shots to the Sharks nine (five of which were on goal). Nearly even on the attacking end early as the Sharks had three corner kicks to the Owls two. It was not until the second half that Zhoreen Malik scored an unassisted goal just under the 52-minute mark to give the Owls a one goal lead. As the Owls moved the ball around while the clock ran down, the Sharks were able to gain possession and thread a pass to Kayla Noonan, who just stayed on-side, who put it in the back of the net. Izabella Warren earned the assist.
Savannah Rodriguez played the 90-minute game in goal for the Owls, finishing with seven saves off 14 of the Sharks shots. Marita Nothacker was in goal for the Sharks finishing with five saves. Malik along with Alexis Ireland led the Owls offence throughout the game as they combined with seven shots and five on goal.
