Title of Position: Accountant II
BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE: MSEA Support Services ( Pending Classification)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, applies accounting principles and techniques to a full range of accounting functions. Duties include completing/overseeing the procurement process in accordance with MCCS procedures and policies. Other duties include bank reconciliations, budget preparations for grants and assigned accounts, preparation of financial reports for grants, and tracking of fixed assets. This position will be required to provide backup support to other positions within the Business office, and assist the Business Office Manager with assigned duties, including but not limited to, preparing student refunds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in accounting, business administration or related field and two years of professional accounting/auditing experience. Related professional work experience may be substituted for education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures as well as an understanding of proper internal controls. Ability to work with automated accounting systems and to prepare and analyze financial data and projects. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to establish working relationships with others. Must have the ability to multitask with interruptions and work independently.
