The Owls women’s soccer team sweep the North Atlantic Conference cross over weekend. The Owls defeat the SUNY Delhi Broncos 2-1 to bring the Owls to a 2-2 NAC record and 3-2-3 record on the year. The Broncos now sit at 0-2-1 in the NAC.

A long punt by goalie Savannah Rodriguez would bounce high and lead forward Alexis Ireland to the net as she then scored the Owls first goal of the day in the 28th minute. The teams would stay even the remainder of the first half as the teams nearly even in shots, with Delhi’s seven to UMPI’s six shots. In the second half, UMPI would just hold the advantage in shots with six to the Broncos five. It was not until the 63rd minute where the Broncos would tie the game at one. Just ten minutes late, Alexis Ireland yet again would score a goal, her fourth on the weekend. This goal was assisted by senior Hope Shea to give the Owls the 2-1 lead.

Ireland’s two goals came off her six shots, four of which were on goal, leading the Owls. Savanna Rodriguez earned seven saves on the day to go along with her first assist of the year.
