University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Compete in Season Opener

 The UMPI Owls women’s volleyball team falls to the Eastern Nazarene Lions in their first match of the 2022 season. Losing the first two matches, 11-25 and 9-25, the Owls found a rhythm in the third set before falling to the Lions 19-25.
 
Owls vs Lions – 11-25  ,9-25, 19-25
The Lions came out of the gate with some early runs to give them the first and second sets before the Owls began to figure it out. A four point swing by UMPI gave them their first lead of the day. The back and forth battle brought the Owls to a 12-18 deficit before a quick run by the Owls, led by Alondra Lopez-Aguino’s serves brought them within one point, 17-18. The Lions would come away with the victory, 19-25.
Lopez-Aguino led the team on the offensive end with 22 attack, finishing with one kill and an ace scoring 2.5 points for the Owls, while adding four digs. Amalia Erives led the Owls on the defensive end with 11 digs, also adding two assists and one kill. Hailey Kelly led the team with five assists, while first year Tallia Robledo finished the day with two kills on seven attacks.
