The University of Maine at Presque Isle has announced the addition of eight new staff members for the Spring 2026 semester.

Katie Cox joins as a Digital Content Specialist in the Marketing and Communications Office. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in new media from the University of Maine and previously worked as Digital Operations Coordinator for VideoRequest and as a Marketing Officer at the University of New Brunswick.

Caleb Lovejoy, who earned his bachelor’s degree in art from UMPI in May 2025, is now serving as Graphic Designer in the same office. He was formerly an intern and work-study student there.

Carl McKinney has been hired as a Facilities Maintenance Worker. His prior experience includes roles as Shelter Advocate for Homeless Services of Aroostook and Certified Nursing Assistant at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center.

Jon Perry is another addition to the Marketing and Communications Office, working as a Digital Content Specialist. Perry launched his own video production company, Wilderness Film, after serving as Training Support Specialist for CACI International. He earned a bachelor of arts in Emergency and disaster management from American Military University.

Sarah Stackhouse has taken on the role of Senior Associate Director of Student Employment and Personnel Management within Student Financial Services. She previously held positions including Director of Admissions and Outreach at Northern Maine Community College and Director of Student Activities, Athletics, and Transportation at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. Stackhouse graduated with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from UMPI in 2011 and received her master’s degree in business administration from Husson University in 2022.

Katrina St. Jean also joins as a Facilities Maintenance Worker, having most recently worked for B&P Cleaners at Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital.

Tammy Thompson is now Administrative Specialist for Facilities after more than ten years at Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital, where she served first as Materials Specialist before becoming Operations Specialist.

Janel Carol Underwood-Charette becomes Counselor for Student Support Services. She holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of New England and most recently worked as Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician at both Northern Light Acadia Hospital and Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital.

In addition to these appointments, two current staff members have accepted new positions: Payton Jones is now YourPace Enrollment and Academic Success Coach; Shawn McPherson serves as Admissions Operations Manager and CRM Administrator.

Empty Bowls fundraiser to be held April 10 at Wintergreen Arts Center

The University of Maine at Presque Isle and Wintergreen Arts Center will hold their Empty Bowls fundraiser on April 10. Attendees can purchase handmade ceramic bowls and enjoy local soup while supporting hunger relief efforts.
