University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Fall to Hornets in Final NAC Regular Season Game

The UMPI Owls men's soccer team traveled to Northern Vermont University – Lyndon to compete in their final North Atlantic Conference game of the year. The Owls would lose to the Hornets, 1-0 to bring them to a 3-6 conference record, while the Hornets advance to 1-8 in the NAC.

The Owls would pressure the Hornets for the majority of the game as they finished the first half with 23 shots to the Hornets two. Despite all of the attacks by the Owls, the Hornets would be the ones to score in the first half. Scoring in the 23rd minute of the game to give them a lead going into the half. The second half the Owls continued to spend the majority of the half in the Hornets end of the field. 21 shots by the Owls in the second half to the Hornets two, yet the Owls were unable to put one in the back of the net, while the Hornets would hold on to earn their first conference win of the year.

Of the Owls 44 shots, 14 of them were on goal. Led by Diego Vega, with 11 shots, four of which were on goal. Nathaniel Stone then followed with three of his six shots on goal. Nyden Reed finished the game with nine shots and Matthew Bayonne with seven shots. Kobe West spent the game in the goal for the Owls, finishing with two saves on the day, including a great save on a penalty kick.

The Owls will head to Nashua, NH to take on non-conference opponent Rivier University to round out their regular season.
