University of Maine at Presque Isle Men's Soccer Celebrate Senior Day for Mank and Nader

The UMPI Owls men's soccer team hosted their final home game of the year, celebrating their senior night for their two seniors, Keith Mank and Steven Nader. The Owls would lose to their North Atlantic Conference opponent the Thomas College Terriers, 3-1. This brings the Owls to 3-5 in the NAC while the Terriers now sit 4-1-2 in the NAC.

The Owls found themselves down early as the Terriers put one in the net in the 7th minute mark. Down one, the Owls continued to put tremendous pressure on the Terriers throughout the first half. Just unable to connect on one to get it in the back of the net, despite multiple close opportunities. Going into the half the Owls led the Terriers 11 shots to eight. The second half was a lot of the same with the Owls pressuring the Terriers, although their defense would hold up. Not only that, the Terriers were able to counter the Owls attacks and score two more goals in the game, one in the 61st minute and other shortly after, in the 63rd. The Owls pressure paid off later as Matthew Bayonne drew a foul in the box, to give Diego Vega a Penalty Kick in the 88th minute to give the Owls their first goal.

Vega's one goal came off ten shots, three of which were on goal. Bayonne finished the game with five shots, two of which were on goal. The Owls team finished the game with 23 shots, eight of which were on goal, while the Terriers finished the game with 18 shots, and eight on goal as well. Xavier McAtee finished the game in goal for the Owls with five saves.

The Owls will finish their regular season with another NAC game, as they travel to Lyndonville Vermont to take on Northern Vermont University – Lyndon.
