Fort Kent Police Department Welcome Officer Daniel (DJ) Plourde and Officer Mark Belanger to our Police Force

082e

Please join us in welcoming Officer Daniel (DJ) Plourde and Officer Mark Belanger to our police force.  Yesterday afternoon, we formally recognized their completion of all three phases of the pre-law enforcement service program (200 hour course).  We invited their families to come and participate in pinning their badge and welcome them to our department.  Officer Plourde and Officer Belanger were hired full-time and fill the last two positions, putting the police department at full staff.  They completed their field training and will be out patrolling the community.  Both will be attending the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (18 weeks) in August of 2023.

Both are originally from the Fort Kent and Wallagrass areas respectively.  After high school, they both continued their education with degrees from the University of Maine in Fort Kent. Officer Plourde worked previously as a dispatcher with FKPD and Officer Belanger had worked in the logging industry prior to his employment.

Welcome aboard and thank you for your service and commitment in serving the citizens of Fort Kent!
